Amaranth

Amaranth microgreens are a type of edible microgreen derived from the amaranth plant. It’s a cereal grain consumed by humans for more than 8,000 years. It’s also one of the most nutritious plants on earth and is a beautifully vibrant looking and tasting microgreen.

It comes in gorgeous hues of pinks and reds, otherwise known as Red Garnet, which pairs well with fruits and fish. Rich green varieties with earthy or nutty flavours are an excellent accompaniment to sweet and savoury dishes.

It’s incredibly versatile and is naturally gluten-free. Use it in a salad, smoothies, sandwiches and salads, or as a garnish on your favourite meal. My favourite is adding a vitamin punch to your Bloody Mary, virgin or otherwise.

Amaranth microgreens are an excellent source of fibre and a protein that help promote weight loss.

Protein decreases the hormone stimulation that makes you feel hungry, and fibre makes you feel fuller for longer, making it a great addition to a healthy lifestyle.

Team with decent-sized portions of vegetables and fun activities such as walking, swimming, or anything else you enjoy will have you on your way!

One serving is stuffed with the two M’s – Manganese, which improves brain function and magnesium, which acts as a muscle relaxant helping with muscle tension and cramps.

They also contain calcium, iron, vitamin A and C and omega-3 fatty acids, a great energy source, are high in antioxidants which help fight against cancer cells and other diseases.
